    Good morning/afternoon:

I heard that your area got snow. And I know that it is quite nippy in Chicago. No one it is called the Windy City. It was 37 degrees this morning when I left. A bit chilly.. Very cold last night. Should be in the 60's or 70's today and drop tonight...

Glad the the Governor is raising the minimum wage. And that is desperately needed. People are working several jobs to make ends meet. And I hope the other officials in the others increase their minimum wages. We already had our passed month ago. People were pissed at the Governor for saying no to it.

Yes it is good he got in. The Republican, Judy Baar Topinka's idea was not to raise the minimum wage but get people out of minimum wage jobs by education.

One of my brother's with an MBA is working at a plant and has many with BS degree's working on the line, unfortunatley this is gettin go to be more common. So a degree does not mean a better job. There are a lot of degreed people doing jobs that only required a HS diploma. But then the question I have is who is going to do these minimum wage jobs? I guess the GOP train of thought did not go that far. And how are they going to support thier family or themselves while working a minimum wage job? Even if tuition and books were paid for? I think Blagojevich is right on here, we are still going to need people in these minimum wage jobs so they need to be paid, these jobs are not going to go away.

Unfortunately, that is the old thing: Go to school, get a good job, and you will be O.K. that is called "poor thinking." Yes, jobs relied on degrees but not any more. It is more of who you know. People need to be finanically intelligence. That is what Robert Kiyosaki teches in his book: Rich Dad, Poor Dad. People can no longer have the "get by" attitude. That was 2% of Americans are finanically independent.

"But then the question I have is who is going to do these minimum wage jobs?"

They will got to the non-speaking Americans or immigrants. Many corporation think that if they get a spanish-speaking person any them mininum wage woth no benefit then they are getting over and saving money. Congress need to seriously put an end to corporate abuse and unfair treatment and employment to the hard working Americans.

GOP thinking is why we are in the mess we are in GNP looks good but the money is not staying here, it is going overseas. Corporate profits up 72%, wages a little over 1% not quite 2%, cost of living is going up more than that, gas prices up, utilities etc. way more than the average wage increase. The GOP has to realize you have to take care of your Middle Class.
Yes there are a lot of people graduating from college and getting really poor paying jobs, and they are having trouble paying off students loans. I am glad I went to a State College where it cost enough but no where near what others at other schools, I was working full time while working on my Master's and my work reimbursed me for 50%, hey some is better than none. But the more education you have the more the employer thinks they have to pay, so it is easier to have just a BS.

Yes, overseas. But, the corporate is onlt think of their bottom line and shareholders and not the employees. The pitting the employees forst is out the window for most corporations. The GOP amd the Getbil ahs changed the rules for corporation and the profitability of the corporations thanks to the Ambien. The corporations like Exxon Mobil, Chevron, and other oil companies have gotten more richer from their profit and the CEOs' salary have skyrocketed. The corporation's business tactics have completely changed.

I do feel bad for the graduates that can;t find a job or settle for minimum wage.. But, a job is not the way is used to be.. As the C.O.L. (cost of living) rises, people's paycheck can't keep up with inflation. The Gerbil has stolen a student's American dream.

Yes the New Capital is beautiful inside, if you love art you should take the tour and see the inside of the State House and Senate, and the old Supreme Court Room. The Ceilings are really something, as is all the artwork. Not too shabby. I'll see if I have more pictures.
