Nice pictures of Chicago Park district. I like the art form of the sculptures of the legs and feets. Also, great artwork on the pavement with the names and plaque of Mayor Daley. Unfortunately, my area is still developing artwork in the downtown area. By the way, what is the name of the sculpture?

Agora it's on the ground with all the donors. This exhibit just opened on Friday to the public, this was the second day it opened.

The other is pigeons keeping warm at the memorial at Daley (Richard J.) Plaza.

I was in Greek Town last night, I will load those pictures later. Still have not made it up North to Michael Jorden's too many tourist up there with the Mag Mile, big festival of lights event up there, too many tourist in fur coats..real fur(Magnificent Mile, that is where all the expensive shopping is on North Michigan Ave. , Then Agora was on South Michigan Avenue and Roosevelt Road)

It is interesting sculptures.. I have some sculptures in the downtown area where I live. the area is still trying to have more art work display especially different forms of expression of artwork. I saw the pic of the pigeons on Daley Plaza. Somebody needs to clean that up. LOL!

I look forward to your pics of Greek Town. I guess you have to wait on pics on Michael Jordan until the crowds die down. Sounds like Chicago has a lot of cultural events and festivals. My area doesn't have that many. Mostly it is during the summer. So, I enjoy going to festivals and events. It is too bad the media doesn't give Chicago its credit for some of the gret scenery.

These new sculptures are made of cast iron and supposidly never need maintanance, and be able to hold up to all Chicago weather. Each one is different and hand cast by the artist.

I don't get up North (North side of the City) much. I stay south mostly and downtown area.

That's interesting. Just never seen sculpture like that. I have seen for the first time photography art and form of clothing as art. Art is far more different thsn I remember. And itis many different forms of expressions. Funny, my city doesn't want to put a nude greek sculpture becase the city commitee feels that it may "offend" people.. Please.. It is too and on going issue...

"I stay south mostly and downtown area."

I live in an area that you have to travel by car to go to different festivals and events.. My area is still developing so it is not a hopping town. It is less expensive to live in my area than other places. But, some of the people in my area are so complacent...However, my local
library is more stake of the arts..

As you can see I am a South Sider, we don't go North much......they wish my part of town would fall into Lake Michigan. The culture up North is snobbish, and well they don't come South. No I have not defected like some from my neighborhood who went to the North Side.

Sounds like your area of Chicago is well divided: status vs. non status.. I have areas in my state that are uppity and full of status. Whereas some areas are not. But, I deal with people who are trying to keep up the Joneses and be something that they are not whether they live in an expensive area or a crapola area. Sounds like you are more comfortable on the South Side. But, I believe in being who you are and never forget where you came from whether you choose to live in expensive area, o.k. area or crapola area..

BTW, I don't live in the snobbish area.. Now, I do know people that went from the outhouse to the White House so to speak in a nice neighborhood and act like they don't know me from a can of paint. A lot of it is simply a person trying to keep up with th Joneses..

I am on the Blue Collar side of town. We have a lot of factories, and there are still alot by the old Stockyards. This area is called "Back of the Yards" and it is right next to "Bridgeport" where Daley grew up, he has since went to "Hyde Park" which is still the South Side, or as far South as the North Siders Claim is the City.
Hyde Park has a lot of Canaries.....yes I am for real, living in trees. One tree broke in Hyde Park bringing down hundreds of canary nests, and it was all over all the Chicago News stations.
Yes I became a News junkie because my Mom would only let us watch the news because anytime you put trash in your head, trash rots.
So I am the type they don't want on a jury.

Would you believe that I was never chosen to serve on a jury? I would be worthless... First of all, I would be bored to tears in sitting there all day.. Sure, people in my family love to serve on a jury.. For me? I wait for the court to tell me that I am excused for the entire year.... I hate jury duty.
